Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
There is no fiscal impact or change to Net County Cost. Funding for the project is from Local Funds - Tribe and is included in the approved Community Development Agency 2014 Capital Improvement Program.

Background
On February 13, 2007, the Board ratified a Letter-of-intent from Board Chairman, Helen K. Baumann, to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District III Director, Jody Jones, requesting work to begin on the process of building the HOV lanes on Highway 50 from Bass Lake Road to the proposed casino near Greenstone Road.

Subsequent to that direction, Caltrans and County staff began work on the above-described HOV project. In 2008, the County Capital Improvement Program was re-evaluated and a determination made that a portion of the work from Ponderosa Road to the eastern termination, known as Phase 3, was no longer a time sensitive priority and staff issued a stop work notice to Caltrans for the Phase 3 portion of work. This direction was reflected in the approved 2009 Capital Improvement Program in which funding for further planning, design, and construction was reprogrammed into future years.
