Community Development Agency (CDA), Administration and Finance Division, recommending the Board retroactively provide grant award acceptance of Letter Amendment, Amendment 1, to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Grant Agreement 3-06-0188-014-2012 in the amount of $51,139 pertaining to the construction of the Placerville Airport Habitat/Security Fence and Gates Project, Capital Improvement Program Project 93124 (Fence Project), and the design of the Placerville Airport Crack Seal and Remark Runway 5-23, Taxiways, Aprons and Taxilanes Project, Capital Improvement Program Project 93129 (Crack Seal Project).
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
In 2012, the then Department of Transportation received a Grant from the FAA in the amount of $699,480 for the two above-mentioned Projects for associated airport construction and design improvements at the Placerville Airport.
During construction of the Fence Project, several change orders were required, which led to an increase in the construction cost. The FAA also required the County to prepare an additional environmental document and to perform updates to the Airport Layout Plan.
