DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On September 25, 2018, the Board Approved the Introduction (First Reading) of Ordinance 5094 and Continued Final Passage (Second Reading) to October 9, 2018.

Consistent with Board Policy A-3, Ordinances - New or Amended, the Board provided conceptual approval on August 21, 2018 (Item 15), to update County Ordinance 5056, to incorporate text changes allowing annual reporting of real property acquisitions executed by the Director of Transportation (Director).

The County's current Ordinance 5056 states that the Director shall provide a report to the Board every six months, or at least twice a year, of the property interests acquired under the authority of the Ordinance.

The Department of Transportation (Transportation) is seeking to update the County's Ordinance 5056 to state that the Director shall provide a report to the Board annually of the property interests acquired under the authority of the Ordinance.

Annual reporting will save staff time and budget, provide the Board a broader view of acquisitions in connection with the annual review and adoption of the Capital Improvement Program, and more accurately reflect long-term projects whose acquisitions require more significant time to process.
