DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On April 10, 2012 (Item 19), as part of the U.S. Highway 50 HOV Lane, Phase 0 Project 53124 (Project), the Board authorized the Chair to sign Cooperative Agreement, District Agreement No. 03-0501 (Agreement), between the County of El Dorado (County) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The Agreement (dated April 18, 2012) provided for the County to obtain the necessary right-of-way for the installation of the new HOV lane, interchange ramps, and overcrossing and ultimately transfer the right-of-way from the County to Caltrans. Project construction was completed in 2016 and the County has verified that the parcels are clear of any encumbrances and can be transferred to Caltrans.

ALTERNATIVES

The County is obligated to transfer the right-of-way to Caltrans per the Agreement.
